Day 1

Reykjavik Arrival: Discover Iceland's Natural Wonders

Upon landing at Iceland's Keflavik Airport, collect your luggage and clear customs. Your rental car will be ready for pickup at the airport. We strongly recommend taking the opportunity to explore the Reykjanes Peninsula, a UNESCO Geopark, on your way to the hotel. Reykjanes offers a fascinating introduction to Iceland's unique geology and volcanic landscapes. Consider a leisurely walk through the surreal Gunnuhver area, where you can observe vibrant mud pools and bubbling steam vents. The renowned Blue Lagoon is also located within Reykjanes, offering a chance to relax in its soothing azure waters. Please note that Blue Lagoon admission requires advance booking, and we are happy to assist with arrangements. Overnight stay in the Keflavik area.

Keflavik to Skagafjordur Fjord and Akureyri

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel. Begin your journey to North Iceland by exploring the enchanting Borgarfjordur region in West Iceland. Don't miss the stunning Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, as well as Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot springs in Europe. As you travel into Skagafjordur, you'll witness a captivating transformation in the landscape. This region is renowned for its horse breeding traditions and well-preserved historical structures. Continue your journey to Akureyri, the vibrant and welcoming capital of the northern region. Overnight stay in the Akureyri area. (B)

Akureyri to Lake Myvatn and Neskaupsstadur

Breakfast is served at the hotel. Today's itinerary includes a visit to the renowned Lake Myvatn area, with a highlight stop at the awe-inspiring Godafoss waterfall, often called the "Waterfall of the Gods." The Myvatn region is famous for its hidden gems nestled among lava formations. As you continue your journey, explore the vast expanse of the highland desert plateau known as Modrudalsoraefi, situated in the heart of East Iceland. Travel through the Eastfjords, celebrated for their ruggedly picturesque landscapes and charming fishing villages. Overnight accommodations are in Neskaupsstadur. (B)

Neskaupsstadur - Eastfjords - Hofn

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. This morning, take time to explore the picturesque surroundings of Egilsstadir town. The road encircling Lagarfljot Lake is a popular route, offering captivating viewpoints. Next, visit Hengifoss, the third tallest waterfall in Iceland, standing at an impressive 126 meters (413 feet). The hike to reach it is relatively easy, and the vivid layers of rock and clay surrounding the falls provide a striking spectacle. As you travel through the southern Eastfjords region, immerse yourself in the breathtaking vistas of mountains and sea. Djupivogur village serves as the gateway linking the Eastfjords region and Southeast Iceland. Be sure to visit the harbor area to admire "The Eggs of Merry Bay (Eggin I Gledvik)," an art installation featuring sculptures of 34 eggs, each representing a local bird species. Continue your journey to Hofn, a charming town nestled in the shadow of the expansive Vatnajokull Glacier. Overnight in Hofn. (B)

Hofn - Vatnajokull National Park - Vik
